This week your local Neighbourhood Policing Team has been busy across the area:
We held a Community Contact Point at The Exchange, Sturminster Newton, providing residents with crime prevention advice and the opportunity to discuss local concerns.
Assisted with a disorderly male in Shaftesbury who was subsequently issued with a Section 35 Dispersal Order. Completed our mandatory annual First Aid Training. Completed mandatory JESIP Training, strengthening our ability to work effectively alongside partner emergency services. Arrested a suspect in connection with domestic violence offences. Attended a criminal damage incident, carrying out enquiries and supporting those affected. Attended several broken-down vehicles on fast roads, helping keep motorists safe and minimising disruption. Located and arrested a male wanted by the courts, after failing to attend court for firearms-related offences. Worked alongside the local Town Council Grounds Team regarding reports of suspicious activity. Thankfully nothing sinister was identified, although a Roman nail was discovered! Received some fantastic news from our partners at Dorset Council Adult Social Care. Following joint work to support two extremely vulnerable individuals, both have now been safeguarded through the courts. We hope this positive outcome will help everyone involved thrive once again. When is the next community contact point (CCP)?
Community Contact Point - Dike & Son, Stalbridge on Friday 21st August 3pm-4pm
Pop along for a chat if you have any local concerns, issues you'd like to discuss, or simply want to meet your local policing team.
Road Safety Reminder
The rain looks set to arrive after a prolonged dry spell. Roads can become surprisingly greasy and slippery as oil, rubber and debris are lifted from the road surface. Please: Drive to the conditionsLeave plenty of space between vehicles Allow extra stopping distancesTake extra care at junctions and on bendsA little extra caution could prevent a collision. Wildfire Safety Advice
The recent hot and dry weather has left many grass, crop and woodland areas extremely dry.
It only takes a small spark to start a significant fire. Avoid using disposable BBQs near dry grass or vegetation Never discard cigarette ends from vehicles or whilst out walking Ensure BBQs and fire pits are fully extinguished before leaving Take extra care when using machinery that may create heat or sparks Report signs of fire immediately A moment's carelessness can have devastating consequences for wildlife, farmers, property and our rural communities.
